History
President Theodore Roosevelt personally commissioned the renowned sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens to redesign American coinage in 1905. The result was a masterpiece: Lady Liberty striding forward with torch and olive branch, framed by rays of sunlight, with a soaring eagle on the reverse. The coin was minted from 1907 to 1933.
